Brian Schmelzenbach - Pastor

Born and raised on the mission field of South Africa, Brian came to see the power of God displayed in the lives of his family and the people they ministered to while he was still quite young.  After returning to the States with his parents, he had the privilege of living just 2 doors down from his grandparents, Elmer and Mary Schmelzenbach, which helped ease the culture shock as his family transitioned to the American way of life.

Brian was saved at a boys and girls camp and later would accept a call into full-time ministry, but not before learning a few lessons.  Brian met his wife, Missi, at Southern Nazarene University.   After graduating and marrying, they both took positions with Mayor’s Jewelers.  They quickly moved from Oklahoma City to Atlanta to begin new careers.  Brian worked his way up to management and then transferred to Orlando to eventually co-manage their Insurance Replacement Division for Central Florida.

God had all along been working in their lives and in November of 1997, Brian took a full-time position with Orlando Center Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene, formerly Orlando Central Church of the Nazarene.  God had brought Brian to a place of full-time Christian service.   Part of Brian’s confirmation on timing was to watch what God had done in Missi’s heart, equipping her to be a minister’s wife.  Few things can be for more precious for a husband than to see God move in the heart of his wife.

God began moving in the fall of 2002, and Brian now pastors Pensacola Ensley Church of the Nazarene.  It is a wonderfully loving and friendly church where God is making Himself known to the people.

Missi has truly been God’s gift to Brian as a helpmate.  Her loves include time with friends and reaching out to someone in need, often taking a meal or watching extra kids.  She is a self-proclaimed emotionalist and is happy to cry with someone when they need it.  God has given her a love for ministry that is often expressed in music.  Missi is a student of the Word and has been a teacher and special speaker at women’s retreats.  Her love for her family is unconditional and she gives sacrificially.

Brian and Missi have two children, Katie-Beth, 13, is a vivacious, energetic, social butterfly; loves singing, dance and sports.  Peyton Graham, 10, is an intelligent, reflective and sensitive little man who loves Animal Planet, bugs, frogs, lizards, snakes and learning how things work. He enjoys sports, jumping rope and catching lots of critters!

Brian is a big fan of fishing, boating, camping, hiking, scuba diving, and Mexican and Asian food, including sushi!  Most of all, he enjoys being around and getting to know people.

Don Hastings - Minister of Music & Administration

After earning a bachelor’s degree in church music/education and psychology from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, Tennessee, and post-grad work at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, Don was a high school band director for four years.  During this time, Don entered full time ministry and served eight churches across five states in more than 33 years of service.  Additionally, he began his own financial planning services business, The Hastings Group, Inc., specializing in insurance and investments.

Our Children's Department goal at Ensley Nazarene is to partner with parents!  We want to give parents what they need to become the primary spiritual leaders for their children.  During their time with us, children have an awesome time learning virtues and how to become followers of Christ.  Our Children's Department is run by a great team of volunteers!

Brenda heads up our Children's Department team as Children's Director.  She's keeps things going for all our kids from birth to 6th grade!

Brenda has four girls and a son-in-law: Morgan, Summer, Courtney, Kristin and Adam.  Ms. Brenda proudly became Noni Brenda recently with the arrival of her first grandchild, Hannah!
