Email BrianBorn and raised on the mission field of South Africa, Brian Schmelzenbach came to see the power of God displayed in the lives of his family and the people they ministered to while he was still quite young. After returning to the States with his parents, he had the privilege of living just two doors down from his grandparents, Elmer and Mary Schmelzenbach, which helped ease the culture shock as his family transitioned to the American way of life.
Brian met his wife, Missi, at Southern Nazarene University. After graduating and marrying, they both took positions with a retail jewelry company. Brian worked his way up to management in Orlando to eventually co-manage their Insurance Replacement Division for Central Florida.
God was moving in their hearts to transition into full-time Christian service and in November of 1997; Brian took a full-time position with Orlando Center Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene. Brian accepted a call to pastor and has been serving at Pensacola Ensley Church of the Nazarene since June of 2003.
Brian received his Masters in Biblical Preaching from Trevecca Nazarene University in May 2009.
Missi is a full-time wife, mom, friend, and in her spare time, she is a substitute teacher! God has given her a love for ministry that is often expressed through music, as well as studying and teaching God's Word.
Brian and Missi have two children, Katie-Beth, 14, is a vicacious, energetic, social butterfly; loves singing, playing the bass guitar, violin and dance. Peyton Graham, 11, is an intelligent, reflectice and sensitive young man who loves Animal Planet, bugs, frogs, lizards, snakes and learning how things work. He enjoys sports, hip hop dance and catching lots of critters! The most recent addition to the family is Ellie; an Italian sheep herding Bergamasco puppy.
Brian is a big fan of fishing, boating, camping, hiking, scuba diving, and Mexican and Asian food, including sushi! Most of all, he enjoys being around and getting to know people.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in church music/education and psychology from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, Tennessee, and post-grad work at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, Don was a high school band director for four years. During this time, Don entered full time ministry and served eight churches across five states in more than 33 years of service. Additionally, he began his own financial advising business, The Hastings Group, Inc., specializing in insurance and investments.
